Prepped And Ready: Westlake 101

10/15/2013 20:00

It’s arguable that tonight’s game between Manor and Elgin may be the Austin-area’s game of the year. And while we won’t see a Manor tackle or an Elgin touchdown until this evening, some drama can already be found on Highway 290.

Earlier this week, Manor coach Sadd Jackson told the American-Statesman that quarterback Denzell Feaster was questionable for the Central Texas showcase. Feaster was removed from Manor’s 27-19 win over Georgetown on Sept. 27 with an undisclosed injury.

Feaster, who led Del Valle to the Class 5A playoffs in 2012, has thrown for 11 touchdowns this season. One of Feaster’s two touchdown runs was a 57-yard run through Leander’s defense on Sept. 13.

If Feaster can’t go, the Mustangs will turn to sophomore Jamal Collins, who has thrown 25 footballs this season. Collins also saw varsity-level playing time as a freshman.

Anyways, please join us back here on the Varsity News blog this afternoon as we kick off our weekly high school football chat. Among the things that we will be discussing this week will be the aforementioned Manor/Elgin game, the best BBQ in Lockhart and whether you’d take Hendrickson or Lake Travis in a hypothetical showdown.

We’ll get that fun started at 1 p.m. And here is some more blog to hold you over until then.

A HISTORY LESSON
